Planetary Scientist (m/f/d)

Your Tasks

  • Analysis of spectral and spectrophotometric data obtained by the Dawn instruments Framing Camera (FC) and Visual and Infrared Imaging Spectrometer (VIR)
  • Processing of spectral data (e.g., photometric correction)
  • Mineralogical analysis of spectral data
  • Linkage of image and spectral information
  • Focus on cryo-volcanic sites and processes on Ceres
  • Publication of scientific manuscripts
You should have

  • High motivation, problem solving attitude, be a continuous learner and team player
  • Experience in planetary geology and mineralogy
  • Experience in data analysis of image and spectral cubes (ENVI, ArcGis, ISIS)
  • PhD in geosciences or a closely related field
  • Several published scientific papers in planetary sciences
  • Fluency in English
Employment Conditions

  • The full-time position can be filled starting October 1st 2023 or later. Employment is initially limited to a time period of 2 years
  • Remuneration is according to the German public salary scale TVöD-Bund E13, depending on qualification and work experience
  • Temporary teleworking can be negotiated
  • Social security benefits are in accordance with the public service regulations.
